Why Take This Course?
Sorry, we can’t get the weekend you spent building that complex Figma prototype back. But we can show you how to automate gnarly tasks so you never have to give up your fun time again.

For instance, using Variables, you can create a fully functional checkout cart that does all the math for you. Or you could build a questionnaire that uses conditional logic to show whether your user got the answer write. IF

Expressions are another time-saver, THEN you could use them to build objects that scale in size, like volume or progress bars.

The final member of this efficiency trio is Conditionals, that allow you to check if a condition is met before performing an action. For example, if a user is shopping a product page and checks “shoes: in the filter selector, then you could use a Conditional to hide umbrellas and hats.

There’s more to all of this, of course, and that’s precisely what we’ll be covering.

Course Description
In this class, we’ll combine demonstration and hands-on practice to become very familiar with Figma Variables, Conditionals and Expressions in Figma. Here are a few of the topics we’ll be covering:

  • How and when to use Variables, Conditionals, and Expressions

  • Creating and setting a new Variable, Conditionals or Expression

  • Understanding Boolean Variables and how to use them

  • Refresher on if/else logic structure

  • Building typical projects with these tools, including shopping carts, adding snackbars and streamlining language replacement for localization

Prerequisites and Requirements
You must already be familiar with Figma basics. We recommend you have a dual-monitor setup when you take this class. The Figma software we’ll be using for this course is free.
